The Computer Suite

Our school has a Computer Suite set up with 16 HP Computers. They are running XP and use a data projector to assist with whole class instruction and modelling.
Teachers take their class to the suite at least twice a week for lessons in what ever curriculum area they are working at the time.
In the suite there are two colour printers, a black and white laser printer, and a scanner.
The school also has a digital camera in each class and two digital video cameras for class use.
Each classroom has one or two computers and the school is networked .
Examples of some of the programmes we use with the students are: Word, Kidspiration, Powerpoint, Junior Pinpoint, Publisher, Kidpix, Creative Writer, and various interactive Maths, Maori and Spelling programmes.
The internet is used often to search for information related to curriculum studies.
Students have also learnt how to send e-mail as a method of communication.
The computer suite is open for half an hour at lunch time for students to use the various programmes or interactive educational games. A teacher is on duty from 1.00 - 1.30 pm in the computer suite.
