Avondale school

Term One

This term we have been learning about school and class rules, what a treaty is and about the children in Room 7.

We have learnt how to make title pages on the computer, how to apply crayon and dye to paper.

The children are now working on learning more sight words, reading fluently and retelling books.  Also, they are revising their counting, skip counting and how to solve number problems.

Plus, the children are locating unknown words or trying to sound them out, put ideas into sentences and explain how something works.

Homework is usually a book or poem to read.  Perhaps you could get your child to retell the story or answer a few questions.  Remember to keep it fun.  Acting the story out can be fun too.  In Week 5, the children will start bringing home lists of words to spell.  These will be in the front of their notebook.  Sometimes there will be health or topic homework, too.

If you have any concerns, big or small, come and see me or write a note.  Let's keep the communication open so the children keep on top of things and keep learning in a happy, fun environment.
