Managing Ourselves in our Community

Key Competency: Managing Self

Curriculum Focus:

Health/PE:  Relationships  with others, identity, respect,, rights and responsibilities, rules and lawsPE focus: fitness, sports games.

Social Sciences: Who we are, about our school, school rules, digital map of school, our families, community,Celebrate Waitangi Day, what, why, who. Set up for class Treaty.

English: Focus; Vocabulary development, Oral language focusWriting focus: Genre to maintain: Recount writing; New genre to teach for benchmarking: Explanation (why .....) Instructional reading.

The Arts:        Vis Art focus:  photography, digital photographs of students using Andy Warhol style with PC effects.       Dance Focus: dances from our community, learn and create a dance, present to school at assemblies.

ICT Integration: digital camera (photos of self, parts of school) PC’s. Video of  dance.

Events: Meet and greet the families’ picnic. Parent questions and meeting.Family interview: Getting to know your students
